Today is June 2nd, a very important and special day for our family! It is Happy Adoption Day / Family Day / Gotcha Day!
One year ago today a little baby girl was carried around a corner into the room where we were waiting for her and she was placed in our arms for the first time. Not just any baby girl - it was ESTHER, our South African Zulu queen!
We are going to try to have a really big celebration every June 2nd so that Esther realizes what a wonderfully special day it is!
This year we both went up to her in the morning and gave her an "end-of-the-bed" present - 2 new books! First Pappa helped her rip the paper, but then she did it herself (followed by ripping it into even smaller pieces instead of looking at her presents).

She gave Pappa a BIG Happy Adoption Day hug!

Another present was a swing for the big tree in the back yard!

It was also a VERY special treat to get to watch "Melmo" on a weekday.
Esther also got a big chocolate cupcake with ice cream! "Iykree?!!" quickly became a favorite new word. As did the word "coooold" as she insisted on placing large amounts of it in her mouth with her hand instead of her spoon.

Here are a few seconds from that special day one year ago:

Thanks for putting a big smile on my face today. I'm so happy for your little family. And the ice cream cold is funny.
