Fun weekend up north

This past weekend we drove 6 hours north to visit friends of ours who adopted a little girl from South Africa 2 months after we did.

We met them a year ago when they came to our house, and this time we visited theirs. N and E are only 6 months apart, and they already act like BFF after only meeting twice!
We also went to the annual camp for families who have adopted from South Africa. There were over 90 families there, so probably at least 120 beautiful South African kids, all in one spot for the whole weekend! They had all kinds of activities, and Esther had a blast.

Esther really liked the workshop where she could practice on the African drums. She also swam in the freezing lake and went on a canoe ride with us. Then on Saturday night they had a disco for the kids with some dance music, and Esther went absolutely crazy and danced the night away. She loved trying to mimic the older girls (and the older boys who were break-dancing). It was hard to capture her in a photo, she was boogeying so much!

(a quick note on Esther's clothing - I let her choose her own wardrobe one day at a fundraiser where they were selling used kids' clothes. She chose this t-shirt in a bizarre shade of green with ANTS all over it and a very pretty red skirt, and decided that it was a lovely matching outfit that she really wanted to wear the entire weekend. Oh well.)

So yes, Esther had a great weekend! Can you tell???

She's obviously so beautiful where it counts (inside) - Esther is contagious. Can't visit her pics without coming away with a big grin!

These pictures are wonderful! You're so good at capturing the joy of your children.

On a side note, when Jonas was 3, he insisted on wearing his snow boots every day. In May. And June. And half of July.

It's a cute ant shirt...:-)
