Niklas just posted this below, but here comes my own version in my own language, for those of you who don't know Swedish (yet)!
We just had a wonderful weekend. We traveled up to the island where Niklas grew up, with 21 teenagers for a retreat. My mom and I first took the train on Friday three hours up to Gothenburg and spent the day there, shopping and looking at art in a museum and eating great food and fika. My mom and I were also responsible for fixing the food for the 24 of us all weekend, and that is the first time I have had to make my brain think about what to buy for and fix for that many people at one time for two days. But, God blessed that and things worked out just fine. I have never spent that much time in the kitchen! Intense!
The group had a really great attitude and got along really well and everyone seemed to have a great time. We had good weather for Sweden, meaning that even though it was very cold, it was also very sunny. On Saturday evening more than half of the group decided to jump (in the dark) into the ocean both before and after they spent time in the sauna. The water was close to 32 degrees, but no cases of hypothermia that I know of. Crazy teens!
It is nice to be home again and to only have to think about making food for two people! I know that I will miss my mom since we have had such an adventurous time, but I will get to see her in like a month since we are going to be there over Christmas. Plus I have all kinds of things to do up until then including studying for an important exam in January and doing some translation projects. Our church is having a Christmas concert and the kids are going to do something during that too!
I will keep everyone posted on the status of the Hezekiah painting!

Katie, whenever I to plan food for a large group of people, I use the Youth Specialties food planning chart. You can find it at http://www.youthspecialties.com/free/foodchart.html
It's almost always right!
Oh, and it sounds like your weekend was great!
I wish I could read Niklas' post as well as I would love to know what the title "mmm" refers to. In Swedish does that have the meaning as in the Grand Ole U.S. of A.? That is, is it to conjure up thoughts of good tasting food?
I was quite pleased to hear that your weekend went well. Don't overfeed your hubby as you re-adjust to two-party dinners, however. I think it's wonderful to hear about the opportunities God gives you to minister to the young people of Sweden. I may know this but don't remember...was this a church thing or a school thing? Either way, time spent with them is definitely a time of ministry.
Oh, I just accidentally jumped back down to the pic of Jesus walking on water. I get all jazzed every single time I see it. For some reason that is just too cool to me.
Alright, it's getting late and thus I'm rambling like a fool. I will be checking back for updates on your Hezekiah work of art!
Thanks for the tip, Becky! You must have lots of good resources for youth activities!
This particular trip was with teens from our church and another church. Niklas ended up preaching three times in three days. God did a lot of great stuff! (besides saving the teens from hypothermia). It is just that I was for the most part in the kitchen so couldn't witness those things first hand. But I sang and prayed in the kitchen instead!
"mmm" in that case meant he wasn't sure what to title that post, I think! As in "hmmmm..." without the h!
I thought of the Polar Bear club, too! It is one of my past dreams to be a part of the Polar Bear club. Me and my best friend were going to go one year and join..but..for the life of me I can't remember why we didn't it. Not for lack of wanting, that's for sure. Given the chance again, I'd do it!
If anyone is up for it, come join me! :)
The Polar Bear Club is for: Very Young, Zany Men and Women. (vyzmw)
