These past two days have definitely been eventful for us. Yesterday, Easter Sunday, my kids from God's Super School held the Easter service for their friends and families. The theme was "Jesus is my SuperHero" and they did a great job. Unfortunately lots of kids were sick and couldn't come, but those who did were really great. There were many relatives in attendance since it was Easter Sunday, and at least two families who had never been in church before. So what an opportunity! I decorated with lots of balloons and streamers and all of the kids had t-shirts with the Superman "S" painted on them. I had made a cool music video of a song called "Super Strong God" and the highlight was the short movie that 7 of the kids and I made a few days ago. It was a movie based on a kids' book and involved a girl, her cat and dog, and a butterfly. They did a great job and I made the movie all fancy with sound effects and a soundtrack and burned it onto a DVD with fancy menus and stuff.
Then after the service Niklas and I packed our sleeping bags and our brand new tent and went camping! It turned out to be the first real Spring-might-kind-of-be-in-the-air kind of day, and as we were setting up the tent (which takes a long time to do, by the way) the sun came out full force and it was lovely. After we had set up camp completely we took a long walk as the sun was setting. We walked along a ridge overlooking meadows and rolling fields on either side, and it was REALLY romantic! It was fantastic! I kept telling Niklas that when I was like 14 I always romantically imagined such moments with my future husband and all of those romantic notions were coming to pass. It was wonderful!
The tent I had bought in the US was really great and had all kinds of room. We had set up the tent so that the front door opened to an amazing view of the countryside. We made a small meal with the "JetBoil" that Nathaniel and Kris gave Niklas this past Christmas, and then we ate chips and chocolate as we watched a movie on my video iPod.
We realized that we forgot our pillows and a blanket, and so that particular aspect of the experience (freezing and being uncomfortable during the night) was not so great. Neither of us slept too much. So we got up kind of early and broke camp, drove home and slept on the couch until 11:30.
Sorry I don't have pictures of either experience! What a bummer!
Oh well, back to work for both of us tomorrow!
