We drove from Sweden, through Germany, Austria, Leichtenstein and Switzerland on the way to Italy to pick up my parents. We camped in our tent 2 nights - Nathaniel's JetBoil definitely came in handy!
It poured down rain as we drove through the Swiss Alps on the way down, so we didn't see too many beautiful views, but this picture turned out to be awesome!
Once we arrived in Florence we had SO much trouble finding our hotel. Dad got out and asked some Italians at least 4 times, and each one gave him different directions!
Michelangelo's famous statue David. This one isn't the "real" one, but it was cool to see it out in the square!
Michelangelos David. Tyckte inte om den så mycket.
Florence is a beautiful and historic city!
Solig och vackra Florens!
Amazing architecture in Florence.
Venice is one of the most romantic cities on earth! I highly recommend it for any couple!
Romans i Venedig!
Italy won the World Cup when we were in Venice. We watched it at a small café with a bunch of tourists and two old Italians. The whole city erupted when they won and the whole night was a big party. This is the front page of the newspaper the day after.
Dagen efter den stora kvällen! (Men vad gjorde Zidane???)
We had day passes on boats that took us all through and around the city and to other islands. Just the boat trips were beautiful experiences in themselves (though HOT!)
Här kunde pappa ha kört båt taxi!
Sunset in Venice! SO beautiful!
Solnedgång i Venedig...
Classic gondolas in Venice...They were everywhere, and quite a sight!
Night closes in on Venice...
Natt i Venedig...
Now we have moved on to Slovenia...TOTALLY different from Italy...breathtaking views of nature everywhere you turned!
We drove our car up to the top of one of the Alps and were rewarded with this terrific view. God is the ultimate creative artist and we were privileged to experience one of His (many) masterpieces!
Högt upp i Slovenien...
My dad turned 56 in Slovenia. He seems to be enjoying his big day!
Födelsedagsbarnet Steve i hängmattan.
This is the view from an old castle resting high atop a mountain alongside this beautiful lake. In the middle of the lake is a small island with a quaint church that we rowed out to one day.
Katie är fotografen.
Me and mom enjoying the views.
Katie & Evelyn njuter av utsikten.
We stayed in one beautiful house right in the middle of a lush valley surrounded on all sides by the Alps. Our room had a balcony that opened up to the view you see behind Katie. It's not every day you see something like that when you brush your teeth!
That night we went out on the balcony around midnight and looked up to see more stars than we had ever ever ever seen before. No way to describe it!
Tandborstning bland Alperna!
We went to some caverns that went DEEP deep down into the earth. It was very cool. This is the natural opening at the end of the hike.
As we drove home through Switzerland again the weather was perfect instead of rainy, and the Alps were STUNNING!
We decided to not take any pictures of the broken down car and extended stay in Germany because we would rather forget it!!!!!!!

It all look so lovely! Esp. the ones of Venice and ALL THOSE MOUNTAINS! Ahhhh....there's nothing like driving through the mountains. Glad you had such a nice time...minus the last little leg. Only, I sorta wished you would have posted those pics too! Just to give the full impression. :)
What a beautiful set of pictures. I have always wanted to go to Venice. How romantic.
I enjoyed your beautiful pictures and stories!
But what made me giggle was reading the long English version of the stories and then the short Swedish ones (which I couldn't "read" but whatever). I imagined Katie giving the long story and Niklas giving the short one!
Those are some awesome pictures. WOW!!! I am so glad you had an enjoyable scenic vacation.
Beautiful pictures. Looks like you had fun!
