An (unnecessarily) clean apartment

Well, we survived the first of our meetings with the Social Workers. We had cleaned the entire apartment, which took several hours, because we thought they would really inspect it, but they hardly looked at it except for a quick glance in each room! But now we have a clean apartment, anyway!

We had a nice hour-long conversation about why we wanted to adopt, how we were planning for the future, our families, etc. Nothing went catastrophically wrong, believe it or not, except for the fact that the first two minutes an annoying fly kept buzzing around their heads (I haven’t seen a fly in this apartment for three years!) but I don’t think they will remember that and suddenly deem us unfit as adoptive parents.

Five weeks from now we are going to have THE interview, where they sit down with each of us separately with a questionnaire and grill us for FOUR hours.

The last time we meet will be October 27th, after which they will write their report and then submit it to the committee which will probably meet some time in November to make the final decision. So, hopefully we will be able to send our papers to South Africa before the end of the year!

WOW! YAY! I'm so glad that it went well and that you have a clean apartment to show for it all! :) It's so incredible to hear how quickly things have begun to move in your favor! YAY GOD!

Nice new format!

Hmmm grill you with questions. I think you need to meet them at UE on those comfy leather couches. You can't be tense in that enviroment. I am excited to hear about the process of adoption. So many people I know are going through it. It facinates me.

Yeah, for a clean house. And I must agree. I doubt the fly will make you unfit. :)

I'm glad things are on the right track! I'll pray that doors will continue to open!
