Life
In John, Jesus says that those who follow Him will have the ”light of life.”Here in Sweden, light plays a central role in how people feel and even what people do. People tend to feel more depressed during the winter months, most likely because of the major lack of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in general (lots of overcast skies). People also tend to get together with others less during the winter (this is just my own observation but I think there would be plenty to back it up). Many people retreat into their living rooms with the TV as their only companion for about 4 months, and then come out again around the middle of March, when the hours of daylight have noticeably increased and the skies are more often clear and blue.
But Jesus says that followers of Christ have the “light of life.” That isn’t dependent on what month it is or what percent of the sky is blue instead of gray. Because I follow Him, I am full of the LIGHT of life. No matter what.
That is what I have been pondering and praying lately.
Family
We have been prioritizing quality time together on the weekends since we are both so busy during the week. This past weekend we went on long walks together on both Saturday and Sunday, not just to take advantage of the lovely autumn weather but also to spend some important time talking about life, plans, visions, the future, all of that kind of stuff. It was wonderful! I am thankful for the things God is building in our lives as we prepare to become parents.Ministry
I felt distinctly during worship time at church yesterday that I was to have Sunday School even though only one girl was able to come, a 3 year old. So instead of being lazy about it, I went ahead and took her with me on a walk and we had the most lovely conversation about how God created her and loves her because she is so special. Her intriguing revelation was that she first existed in her mother’s heart, and then when God decided it was time, she dropped from her mother’s heart to her stomach where she could grow more until it was time to come out. We also learned about giving by giving away some of the candy we had bought to another girl we just happened to walk by on the sidewalk. I don’t know how much of that hour together little Gabriella will remember in say, 10 years, but I felt the smile of Jesus on us all the same!Schooling

I love having Sunday School or children's church with just one or two children! A big group is fun, of course, but those one on one interactions are priceless! Also, I think it means a lot to a child to know that even though they are the only one there, you think they are important enough to have a "lesson" for, even if the lesson is just going on a walk or coloring or playing a board game and talking.
I look forward to reading your updates!
