Life continues...

Life

I’ve been thinking so much lately about how challenging it is to be in the minority regarding what I believe in. And how challenging it must be for my Sunday School kids to be so very different from all the other kids simply because they believe what Jesus said about Himself.

So when Niklas and I were in prayer yesterday I proclaimed with my mouth that we believe Jesus’ claims about Himself and that we are building our lives and our marriage and our family on that confession. It is a powerful thing to proclaim with your mouth what you believe, even if it is a very “basic” thing. We believe that what Jesus said, recorded in the Bible, is completely true. Period. And we are going to live our lives based on that. Period. No matter how different it is from what this society and this culture are based on.

Family

This past week (and the week before) we have been BUSY. As in, away from home from 7:30 in the morning till 8 or 9 at night, whether it is school or work or meetings. Makes me look forward to being a parent, when I can prioritize time AT HOME with my family in a different way.

But, Niklas and I did have the whole day together on Saturday, a nice autumn day, which was lovely. He made me “chocolatey marshmallow magic” muffins, as he called them. (Yes, he knows EXACTLY how to make me happy – good man).

Ministry

Sunday afternoon Niklas put together a “10 & up” Tacos Party for those who were at least 10, which has come to be a good group of kids. They are a bit too old for most of what I do in Sunday School, but certainly not ready for a teenage group. They had a GREAT time and they wish we would do it more often than once a month. God can definitely use those occasions to speak to those kids.

In God’s Super School we watched a movie about Jesus’ life based on how it would be seen through kids’ eyes. I thought it was quite good. Three year-old Gabriella commented, during one of the (mild) crucifixion scenes: “Those soldiers are just the stupidest people I have ever seen.”

Schooling

I’ve been studying “Connective Tissue Disorders”, meaning bone problems like arthritis and osteoporosis. Not my favorite subject thus far in the course, but I might be the one who gives a presentation this week, so I need to study it way more.

This will be such an ignorant comment, but, I find it interesting that they eat tacos in Sweden. Somehow that seems like an overtly American food. For some reason that just stuck out to me. Are they the same as what we make here?

They are the same!
They were introduced in Sweden only less than ten years ago, and now it is one of the favorite Friday night foods or top children's foods.

Most prefer "soft tacos" or tortillas, though.

I find that extremely interesting. I'm sorry that tacos is the main point I chose to comment on. Somehow it just really jumped out at me! But now I know something new and for that I am forever in your debt!
