Adjö November

I am glad November is almost over. Not my favorite month of the twelve. Plus, I didn’t even have a Thanksgiving dinner this year!!!
It did go by very fast, though, probably because I always have 5,692 things going on all at once nowadays. There are a few reasons I am glad November is over. I will list a few:

-The weather in southern Sweden in the month of November is chilly, overcast, dark and dreary. With the exception of a handful of days, I don’t quite recall the feel and thrill of sunshine.

-November has been the month of setbacks in our adoption process. I don’t want to go into everything that hasn’t gone smoothly because I do not want to focus on the negative. But let’s just say that after about 4 or 5 bumps in the road things look to be on track again. The social services committee in our town will approve our application on December 6th.

-The end of November always means the beginning of December, and with the month of December comes that Christmasy feeling! I have already finished Christmas shopping for my family, and we are nearly done with Niklas’ family. I am going to hang up Christmasy curtains and we will put up a Christmasy star in the window and try to keep lots of candles lit in the evenings. Although I don’t like traditional Swedish Christmas food all that much, there’s usually all kinds of chocolate everywhere at least.

So, I’ve nearly made it through another Swedish November, and yes, I am PROUD of it!
