And this post was kind of a bummmer because... yesterday when I read it I thought it was going to say that the people have called you to come get LL. :o(
But oh well... I will just have to take a look at their web site instead. :o)
I have not looked at their web site for a long time, and this is very nice. And it does make me a little sad to read, because it reminds me that we probably won't be able to adopt from South Africa again. When we committed to Abba for Sparkle's adoption, we committed in our minds/hearts to adopt from South Africa again if possible. Part of the reason was that we wanted to have two Black children (that was the decision we made, and obviously not every family feels that is essential). But South Africa was closed to US adoptions pretty much immediately after we left. But God is gracious, and brought us to Pumpkin. And you know, *somehow* we manage to love him to pieces, even though he's not South African. :)
I hope this doesn't sound trite or over-dramatic, but you and Niklas are blessed to have the opportunity to love and parent a South African child, even though the adoption takes forever and parts of the process seem pointless.
I notice that it seems Abba is paying more attention to post-adoption issues for adoptive parents, birth parents, and children. When we adopted, they told us to stop sending reports after two years because birth mothers need to "move on" after that point. We do still send updates about every six months, but we don't know that Sparkle's first mother sees them. We don't even have confirmation that Abba has recieved them (other than that they weren't returned...) Because our relationship with Pumpkin's first mom is more open, Sparkle has a lot of questions about his family in South Africa. Maybe he would wonder about them anyway, but perhaps it is more on his mind because he sees our relationshiop with Pumpkin's birth mom developing... Who knows... Anyway, we have been thinking of writing to Abba and asking them to help us contact Sparkle's first mom. Reading their new website made me feel more optimistic that they may be willing to help us with that effort.
Anyway, very long comment! Thanks for the link, and for letting me go on and on!
