Our 400th post - What an adventure!

Kul!

Yesterday was one of the most important days here in Sweden – the celebration of Midsummer’s Eve! We spent the afternoon and evening with our friends Patrick & Malin. Everyone but Katie ate raw herring (I ate chicken). We also had delicious Swedish strawberries with vanilla ice cream. Afterwards we played frisbee and a weird board game where you have to wear funky red glasses. (By the way, it is around 9:30 P.M. in this picture).

Today we went on a really long hike in a nature reserve…We ended up walking 15 MILES by the time we were done. It took 5 hours.

Träd i Trollskogen. Hur kunde det bli så?
This is one of the trees in the ”Trolls’ Forest”.

Vacker vy från Kaninlandet…
This is a view from ”Bunny Land”.

Katie och Rosa.
We got lost a few times, one of which was in the middle of some curious cows.

Vilse, eller…
Like I said, we got lost a few times.

De gillade Katies äpple.
We saw so many beautiful horses. These really liked the apple I gave them. I look startled because their lips were quite warm and unexpectedly fuzzy.

De fanns överallt, vilda smultron. Vårt eget smultronställe.
On one of our wrong turns we found wild strawberries.

Hemma igen, något trött när grillen skall sättas igång.
Once we finally made it home, Niklas decided to sit down while manning the grill!

Vilken efterrätt, bland det bästa jag haft!
Wild strawberries + vanilla ice cream – Niklas’ new favorite!

Thanks for the "picture walk"! I'll tell you though, I can't understand how you all get used to it being light so long. Right now it gets dark here around 9:30 thanks to DST (which I saw with great sarcasm) and that is way too late for me. But it looks like you guys make the most of it. Good for you!

Oh how fun...I always loved this time of year back home. And that is one of those things that I miss ever so much. I know my hubby doesn't care for the daylight constantly and it causes him great difficulty when trying to sleep but I like it. I Can remember times when it would be 1 or 2 in the morning and be just as bright as that picture. We would all be out playing ball or something fun. And they never told US to be home when the street lights came on!! :)

Looks like fun--- friends, hiking, horses, strawberries, ice cream, and coffee! Can't think of anything to add to make it better.

Glad you had fun!

How absolutely wonderful. You have such a beautiful scene to enjoy yourself in. I am a bit jealous. I think it is exciting you got lost. That can be an adventure!

Did you come across any skunks on your hike? I like that picture of Niklas sitting by the grill... he looks so tired... but it also really details his leg muscles... haha... and those have to be some comfortable shoes he's got on... they look kinda goofy... but comfortable. :o)

Anonym sa...

Those are my goofy silvery spacey shoes...He was just wearing them to walk in and out of the house while making our dinner.

(and yes, he does have very muscular legs - i do too now that i have walked FIFTEEN MILES)

so... it's like you've been pregnant for 2 months, 3 weeks and 5 days. In your case... we are praying for an early delivery!

Anonym sa...

Well, add about 11 months to that and the whole "how long we've been pregnant" thing would be more accurate.

Anonym sa...

well... yes... if you count all that time... then yes.

i'm just trying to get the last word in here... :o)
