Mobile Marketing

Did you know that over EIGHT BILLION TEXT MESSAGES are sent every MONTH in the US??? Crazy!!! Only like 7 or 8 years ago there was no such thing as a text message!

Here in Sweden, by the way, they use the term SMS when referring to text messaging. (At first I thought that the Swedes were way smarter in their use of an acronym but then I realized both have the same amount of syllables and take just as long to say.)

There was even a story recently on a bunch of British teenagers who had been text messaging so much and so frequently that they had developed debilitating joint inflammation in their thumb joints!

And I guess you all know that if you really want to, you can get THE ENTIRE BIBLE as a text message, not to mention other literary works.

Well anyway, some companies are starting to realize the potential of text messaging and have designed services that “make life easier” (inasmuch as a cell phone can make your life easier!). They are harnessing the power of the cell phone for mobile marketing.

One such company is Cellit Mobile Marketing, a provider of mobile marketing solutions for both large and small companies. Cellit has the tools and proven expertise to help larger organizations with more advanced, custom mobile campaigns.

They have 2 main services that sound pretty smart:

House4Cell is an easy to use tool that allows real estate agents to send instant property information on any of their listings directly to a homebuyer’s cell phone. Pricing info, square footage, photos and more can all be sent through our simple backend system where you control the messages and can change them at anytime.

CouponZap allows businesses to extend their advertising campaign to the cell phone screen. With CouponZap, small business owners can create trackable mobile coupon campaigns, appointment reminders, and text alerts while measuring the effectiveness of their other advertising.

Whoa...this is so weird. I had just read this blog to update myself on your life and saw that you mentioned texting being called SMS. Well, first of all, I have texting blocked on my phone which is good...I dont believe in texting. Anyway, so then I just went to my yahoo mail account and this little box pops up and says "Now you can send SMS (texts) to all your friends!"

HOW weird is that?! Well, I think its weird anyway.
