Surprise!

I threw a little surprise birthday party for Niklas last night!

He kind of sensed that something was going to happen, even though I made the spinach dip in secret and hid all the food I bought. But then when I changed into my relaxing-around-the-house clothes at 5:00, he figured he must have been wrong about it (ha! i tricked him!).

But at 5:15 the doorbell rang and 4 of our friends came to surprise him. We ate some snacks together and then, since it was Niklas' day, he forced everyone to play the Swedish version of Scrabble with him for 2 hours. Unfortunately, for the first time in about 28 games, Niklas lost.

By the way, in Swedish the game is called Alfapet.

Awwww I'm sorry you lost, Niklas! Come over here and play against me! Then you can win easily! Why can't the English game of Scrabble work in all languages? Just because the letters are worth different amounts or is there another reason too?

How sneaky of you, KT! I liked your last minute attempt to throw him off!

Niklas, I am sorry you didn't win. It just gives you more reason to play again!

Finally...Alfapet...I know that is mostly likely supposed to be like "AlPHabet", but what it immediately made me think of is "alfa-pet" and then "alpha-dog" and then "top-dog". So, now I think of Niklas as the Top Dog of Scrabble! (Okay, I promise that was a super quick thought progression and not one I spent way too much time thinking about!)
