I had already planned a weekend trip to Helsingborg as a surprise for N, and when the Phone Call That Changed Our Lives came, we decided to go ahead with the trip since it really was perfect timing for us to get away for awhile so we could talk, plan, think and dream about our new daughter, our future and our trip to South Africa.
Despite chilly winds we had a great time.
We met with a family that has two kids from South Africa, one of whom came from the same "place of safety" as Esther, and it was really interesting to get to know them. What a great family! They really encouraged us!
Some other things that stick out from the trip include:
- Eating at a Korean restaurant - it was *really* good!
- Watching kite-surfers do cool tricks in the ocean.
- Eating a scrumptiously juicy grapefruit at the hotel breakfast and savoring every drop.
- Enjoying the sunshine in a harbor in the lä (= "place where the wind does not blow" - a good Swedish word when playing Scrabble).
- Being with my favorite person on the planet
on the way back from Helsingborg.
Watching the kite-surfers was very cool.
