Sisters

Esther and Sylvia are learning to enjoy each other's company. It is a challenge. Esther doesn't know when she is being too rough. Mostly Sylvia just wants to do whatever Esther is doing, whether it is playing with a certain toy or dancing or reading a book. Esther is learning to share and to include Sylvia in what she does. She is learning not to push, hit, kick or smush Sylvia. She is learning that Sylvia doesn't always like extended hugs or forced kisses. She is learning that Mamma gets VERY UPSET whenever Esther does something mean to Sylvia, but very happy when Esther does something nice for Sylvia.

Yep, it's hard becoming a big sister to a 1 year-old, but that's okay. Why should it be easy? It's okay if it's a challenge, as long as Esther shows continued progress.

One of Esther's FAVORITE things is getting into Sylvia's bed. She LOVES that. Sylvia usually really loves it too, until it gets too rough (Esther grabs her and throws her down), and then she cries. But for the most part they really enjoy each other.


Now that Sylvia can walk pretty well while holding onto our hands, she likes to chase Esther around the house! She can even kind of run! Esther likes that.
